Netflix has given fans a glimpse into what’s to come for the live-action adaptation of One Piece as they film season two with a new promo. The set video is already raising fan expectations with many Easter eggs to future storylines, with special looks at the season’s new sets, according to ComicBook.
The video was dropped during Netflix’s Geeked Week and follows Buggy the Clown, portrayed by Jeff Ward (Hacks, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) — though not in his characteristic clown get-up. The detailed behind-the-scenes looks take fans through new sets, costume designs, production designs and, more notably, the potential look of Drum Island.
The promo first shows the design for Loguetown, where “we are shown several shops in Loguetown that fans will easily recognize from the manga and anime. From the sword shop Zoro visits to the place where Usopp finds his sniper goggles, it is all here. We are also given a look at the goggles that Usopp buys, and despite their high price, the items are nothing short of gorgeous,” according toComicBook.
The most exciting portion came from production designers giving the fans a sneak peek of the famed Drum Island. The design is a perfect take on the snowy island, with many original design aspects for the world of live-action.
After the live-action release in 2023, it became a smash hit and was quickly issued a second season. Anticipation for this new season has been steadily growing with casting announcements for beloved characters fans were hoping to see on screen, two of the most notable being Vivi Nefertari and Dr.Kureha. However, many fans are still curious about how the show will adapt the Straw Hat’s doctor, Chopper.
Although Netflix has announced no official release date, many estimate a 2025 release based on the first season’s production schedule.
