Netflix has officially ordered Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a new spinoff set in the world of Manifest. According to Deadline, the series will feature a new cast of characters and storylines while continuing to explore the mysterious themes established in the original series.
The spinoff comes from Manifest creator Jeff Rake (The Tomorrow People, Miss Match, Hawthorne) alongside Margaret Easley (Life Sentence, Big Love, The Listing Agent) and Laura Putney (Life Sentence, Cake, Death Ride), who previously served as co-executive producers on the original series. The trio will serve as co-creators, executive producers and showrunners on Arrivals. Warner Bros. Television will return as the studio behind the project.
According to the official description, Arrivals begins when a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver. The passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from or why they are there. A young social worker and novice Homeland Security agent join forces with the passengers in an effort to prevent a catastrophe that could threaten humanity.
As the group searches for answers, they begin to realize that they are part of the mystery they are attempting to solve.
The project has been in development for several years. Rumors surrounding a potential Manifest spinoff began after the second half of season four premiered in 2023. By the end of 2024, the project was reportedly in development at Netflix, and a writers room had opened by the end of 2025.
Netflix officially announced Arrivals on August 28, known among fans as “828 Day” in reference to Montego Air Flight 828, which served as the central mystery of the original series.
Manifest followed passengers aboard Flight 828 who landed safely in New York after what appeared to be a routine flight, only to discover that more than five years had passed for everyone else. The series starred Melissa Roxburgh (Star Trek Beyond, Supernatural, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days) as Michaela Stone and Josh Dallas (Thor, Zootopia 2, Once Upon a Time) as Ben Stone.
The original series premiered on NBC before being canceled after three seasons. Netflix later revived Manifest for fourth and final season after the show experienced renewed popularity on the streaming platform. According to Deadline, all four seasons have accumulated more than 130 million views on Netflix since the streamer began releasing its semiannual viewing data in 2023.
Rake said the new series will introduce a fresh mystery while remaining connected to the world established in Manifest. He also praised Easley and Putney, describing the pair as longtime collaborators who played important roles in developing the original series.
Rake, Easley and Putney executive produce the series alongside Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Flight), Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight, Monster House), Len Goldstein (All Rise, Cult, Hart of Dixie) and Jacqueline Levine (Mighty Joe Young, Finch, Tooned Out).
Casting information and a premiere date for Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery have not yet been announced.
