After two-seasons series Kingdom and Yeon Sang-ho’s 2016 movie Last Train for Busan, Netflix announced their plans for new Korean zombie content with All of Us Are Dead. Based on Joo Dong-Geun’s 2009 horror webtoon series Now At Our School, the show will depict a group of high-school students being trapped in their school during a zombie apocalypse. The Webtoon was particularly popular in Thailand, Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan, thus gathering millions of readers worldwide.
According to Deadline, the Netflix Original will be written by Chun Sung-il while directed by Lee JQ (Intimate Strangers) and Kim Nam-su (Rampant). It will be produced by JTBC Studios in association with Film Monster as part of the multi-year deal they signed with Netflix in 2019.
“All of Us Are Dead is poised to write an exciting new chapter in the Korean zombie genre, as director Lee brings fresh energy through the solid narrative and the attention-grabbing cinematography he is well known for,” Netflix said in a statement.
The cast and premiere date are yet to be known.
