Fans of Netflix’s Cobra Kai recently received some great news. According to an article written by Deadline, creators of the popular spinoff series Jon Hurwitz (Harold & Kumar), Hayden Schlossberg (Hot Tub Time Machine), and Josh Heald (American Pie) have had their most recent show Obliterated ordered for a minimum eight-episode run on their platform. The series, which had previously been ordered to series on TBS in 2019, is set to continue to story with a season’s worth of 45-minute episodes.
A mix of action, drama, and comedy, Obliteration aims to tell a tale of military operations conducted by a special forces team who goes to prevent a bomb threat in Las Vegas. After celebrating a successful mission during an afterparty loaded with all types of debauchery, it is revealed to the special forces squad that the bomb they deactivated during their operation was in fact a fake. Now they find themselves stumbling and attempting to see the mission through while being drunk, as well as fighting with one another over personal issues, to complete the mission with increasingly-raised stakes in order to defuse the real bomb and save thousands of lives.
This news comes as a string of shows has been reordered by the streaming platform, including the second season of Insatiable starring Debby Ryan (Jessie) and Dallas Roberts (The Grey), and Glamourous, a CW pilot starring Miss Benny from Fuller House.
A premiere date for the series has not yet been set.
