Writer Steve Niles and artist Damian Worm’s comic book October Faction are getting a television series to be produced and aired by IDW Television and Netflix. The streaming giant will be going monster hunting and has made a ten episode season order for the show and it will be a live action series rather than an animated one.
According to a report that was released, “The series follows globetrotting monster hunters Fred and Deloris Allen who, after the death of Fred’s father, return to their hometown in upstate New York with their teenage children Geoff and Viv. As the family adjusts, Fred and Deloris must hide their identities as members of a secret organization, and our heroes quickly discover that their new small-town setting isn’t as idyllic as it seems.”
Damian Kindler (Krypton) will both executive produce, showrun, and direct at least an episode in the series. The other directors for the series will be joined by: Director X (Superfly), Megan Follows (Reign), Mina Shum (Meditation Park), and David Frazee (Orphan Black). The producers for the show will be: John Calvert (X Company, Anne with an E), Mohamad El Masri (Here and Now), and Niles as well.
Niles is a horror novelist, comic book writer, and screenwriter. He has done television adaptations in the past. 30 Days of Night has gotten two feature films, a miniseries, and several tie-in novels. Because of this, it has become one of the most popular comic horror franchises.
