Looks like Netflix wants to stay in business with the Gilmores. TVLine has reported that Netflix is in “preliminary” talks to have more episodes of Gilmore Girls available for streaming.
Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos confirmed the streaming site was in early talks for more episodes, saying “We hope (it happens). We obviously loved the success of the show (and) fans loved how well it was done; it delivered what they hoped. The worst thing is to wait a couple of years for your favorite show to come back and for it to disappoint you, but (series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and exec producer Dan Palladino) sure delivered and people were really excited about more. And we have been talking to them about the possibility of that.”
One of the biggest hurdles of another revival would be getting all the stars and Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino back on board. Bledel is set to appear in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which premieres on the streaming site on Apr. 26 of this year. Graham has recently been cast in Fox pilot that, if it gets picked up by the network, could prevent her from working on more Gilmore Girls for the time that the show runs.
Even Sherman-Palladino and Palladino’s involvement at the current time is iffy. Sherman-Palladino has a new Amazon show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and has said that her and her husband “have been in a Gilmore cocoon for a year and a half” and that they need a break from it.
However, back in December, Sherman-Palladino also said she’s not counting anything out about the show.
Even though Graham has her new pilot, in her book, Talking as Fast as I Can, she did seem to be on board for anything else related to Gilmore Girls and agreed that the final four words seemed like a cliffhanger.
All the episodes of Gilmore Girls and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life are available for streaming on Netflix.
