Netflix has released a short teaser trailer for the second season of its upcoming show, YOU, as reported by Comicbook.com. Although the show has recently been given a premiere date on Netflix and has long been in development since the success of its first season, this is the first trailer that Netflix has released for the new season. The trailer confirms all of the changes that’s been reported to come out of the show’s newest chapter. Joe narrates about his feelings towards living in LA after moving from there from New York, calling it ‘a dark place. The teaser also implies the show will be continuing its commentary on social media culture. “Your followers see an image and imagine you’re on top of the world. What they don’t see is the effort you’re putting into this fantasy.”
YOU taking place in LA gives Joe the opportunity to run into several new characters, including Love Quinn, an aspiring Chef played by Victoria Pedretti who will be Joe’s new obsession. But even with Joe migrating to LA to start a new life, his past will continue to loom over him in the form of Candace, his ex girlfriend from New York played by Amber Chylders. Candace, who was only featured in one episode of YOU, might be playing an even more critical and prominent role as Chylders has been promoted to series regular for season two, so fans can expect a lot more of Candace.
YOU’s season one followed the story of Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager pining over Guinevere beck, a grad student and aspiring writer. What Beck doesn’t realize, however, is that Joe has been stalking her and murdering anyone who might pose a threat to their relationship. YOU’s season two marks a dramatic change for the program as none of YOU’s original regular cast members will carry over to this season aside from Joe himself. Comicbook.com’s description of the next season was, “Meet Will Bettelheim. He’s not your regular Joe. He’s new to LA and has sworn off love. But love, like murder, has a way of tracking you down. A new city, a new identity. What could go wrong?”
Season two of YOU will debut on Netflix on December 26th.
