Netflix Drops Teaser Trailer for ‘Stranger Things’ Season Four

This Valentine’s Day Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for its 80s science fiction horror series, Stranger Things. The series, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, premiered in the summer of 2016 and has been one of Netflix’s most popular original programming over its three-season course so far. Stranger Things follows the adventures of Midwestern teenagers as they experience supernatural powers and events in addition to living through confidential government operations in their small town. Renown for its talented cast of child actors, Stranger Things has jumpstarted the careers of Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard, as well as reviving the careers for acting veterans Winona Ryder and David Harbour.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

The fate of Harbour’s Chief Jim Hopper of the Hawkins Police Department was under a lot of speculation following the conclusion of season three. In the final scenes of the season, Harbour’s character closed the gap between the upside-down and the real world, appearing to sacrifice himself in the process for the greater good. With saying goodbye to his love interest Joyce (played by Ryder), fans of the series were under the impression that this was the final farewell for the loving police chief. However, in the post-credit scenes, Russian personnel were overheard referring to an “American” confined in their prison walls. The American was presumed to be Harbour’s Hopper character, but the showrunners and the cast have remained silent about the future for the show and character.

Netflix dropped the fifty-second teaser trailer which depicts a Russian prison camp with prisoners working on a railroad in dense snowfall. The camera follows the tracks forward and stops to turn and look at one particular prisoner – Hopper. While fans will still have to wait for a full-length trailer of the new season, fans can feel satisfied for the fate of Hopper and the prospect of a potential prison break storyline. As of right now, there are no further announcements for a full-length trailer. Yet, if the show’s past has shown anything, the Duffer brothers enjoy releasing Stranger Things content on or around holidays such as this teaser on Valentine’s Day.
