Netflix Confirms Seasons 4 & 5 of ‘Queer Eye’

In exciting news, Netflix’s Queer Eye has officially been given two additional season orders — rounding out the series’ total to five overall. The series’ season 4 is set to debut this upcoming July 19th, while Season 5 will begin production next week  before debuting in 2020 during an unannounced premiere date.

The 2018 show’s signature Fab Five members are: Antoni Porowski (Food & Wine), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming), Karamo Brown (Culture), and Tan France (Fashion). The series first aired back in 2018, to large fanfare and critical acclaim.

Queer Eye was an American reality television series that premiered on the cable television network Bravo in July 2003, with the title being: Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. However, the title was later shortened to encourage more inclusion and broader audiences. The series was initially created by executive producers David Collins and Michael Williams along with David Metzler through their company, Scout Productions.

Each episode featured a team of gay professionals in the aforementioned  variety of fields (fashion, personal grooming, interior design, entertaining and culture) who performed makeovers for struggling straight men by switching up their wardrobe, redecorating their homes, and offering varying advice on grooming, lifestyle changes, and healthy dieting.

After becoming a surprise success, spawning merchandising, internationally franchising of the series’ premise, and a subsequent female-centric spin-off titled: Queer Eye for the Straight Girl: Queer Eye, the series would go on to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program in 2004.

After ending production in June 2006 and the original’s final episode aired on October 30, 2007. During September 2008, the Fine Living Network briefly aired Queer Eye in syndication.

Queer Eye’s new iteration is executive produced by David Collins, Michael Williams and Rob Eric in partnership with Scout Productions. Jennifer Lane acts as the series’ showrunner and executive producer as well. David George, Adam Sher, David Eilenberg and Jordana Hochman serve as executive producers through ITV Entertainment’s label.

Queer Eye season 3 is currently available to stream on Netflix.
