Before the holiday weekend, Netflix canceled four of its comedies, including The Crew, Country Comfort, Mr. Iglesias, and Bonding, according to The Hollywood Reporter. One comedy did receive a renewal from the network for a second season – The Upshaws.
The Crew, following a NASCAR crew chief and his racing team, is ending with one season. Country Comfort, following a country singer-turned-nanny, will also end with one season, while Mr. Iglesias, which features stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias (The Fluffy Movie) as he acts as a good-natured high school history teacher, is ending with part three. Lastly, Bonding details the story of Tiff, a New York City graduate student who doubles as a dominatrix, is ending with a second season.
Despite these cancellations, Netflix closed a development deal with The Crew‘s Kevin James (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) to develop a comedy series for him to produce and star in. The network is also developing a project with Iglesias as well as a separate project with Bonding creator Rightor Doyle (The Walker).
