According to Deadline, Netflix’s new animated series, Long Story Short, from the creators of Bojack Horseman, has revealed the voice cast and an official premiere date. The animated comedy, which was announced in August 2024, is scheduled to air on the streamer on August 22, 2025.
The cast for the first season of the animated series includes Lisa Edelstein (Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce), Paul Reiser (Stranger Things), Ben Feldman (Mayfair Witches), Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Max Greenfield (New Girl), Angelique Cabral (Life in Pieces), and Nicole Byer (Nailed It!). Dave Franco (Krapopolis) and Michaela Dietz (Steven Universe) will be recurring guest stars on the series. Netflix has yet to reveal the official names for the roles they will be taking but showcases the voice actors next to their characters in a post down below.
The official logline for the series states the show is “about one family, over time. Jumping through the years, we follow the Schwooper siblings from childhood to adulthood and back again, chronicling their triumphs, disappointments, joys, and compromises.”
As per Deadline, Raphael Bob-Waksberg (Undone), creator of Bojack Horseman, will serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer on the series. Noel Bright (Sweet Friggin’ Daisies) and Steven A. Cohen (Tuca & Bertie) will executive produce for Tornante Television. Lisa Hanawalt (The Exquisite Corpse Project) will be the supervising producer and will design original art for the series. Corey Campodonico (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio) and Alex Bulkley (The Tiny Chef Show) will serve as co-executive producers for animation studio ShadowMachine. Bojack Horseman was one of the very first adult animated series on Netflix and it ran for six seasons from 2014-2020. The series followed BoJack, a washed-up celebrity known for a 1990s sitcom series, Horsin Around, as he navigates through Hollywood while dealing with his past and trying to maintain some form of happiness and meaning. Bojack Horseman was nominated twice for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.
