Netflix Announces Date and Teaser Trailer for Final Season of ‘Bloodline’

Netflix has released a teaser trailer and date announcement for its series Bloodline. Variety recently reported on the announcement, writing that Bloodline’s third season will be the series’ final installment, comprised of 10 episodes.

Bloodline follows the Rayburns, a prominent family in the Florida Keys, as they deal with their past – and present – sins. In Season 1, the main conflict was drawn from Danny Rayburn, brother to protagonist John, when Danny returned to his family home after a prolonged absence. With his return came a tidal wave of drama, tension, and dirty crime as the Rayburns were forced to deal with their complicated and troubled past involving Danny. Season 2 included the reveal of Danny’s son, Nolan, and fleshed out he and his father’s pasts. Bloodline’s second installment also showed the rest of the Rayburn siblings – John, Kevin, and Meg (played by Kyle Chandler, Norbert Leo Butz, and Linda Cardellini respectively) – grapple with the ramifications of their dark actions back in Season 1.

While Season 1 piqued viewers’ interests as an engrossing, slow-burn drama, Season 2 was more intensely criticized and generally considered a lackluster sequel, with many citing the absence of Danny (and the subsequent removal of one of the show’s most engaging actors, Ben Mendelsohn) as a serious mistake. Many were also frustrated with the season’s major cliffhanger ending.

Whether or not Bloodline’s Season 3 will measure up to the gripping drama of Season 1 or stumble over the similar pitfalls that characterized Season 2 is a question that remains to be answered. Nevertheless, it will be satisfying to finally reach the conclusion of the Rayburn’s story and see where all of the siblings will end up after the events of the previous two seasons.

Bloodline’s third and final season will premiere May 26th on Netflix.
