A second season of Berlin, the Money Heist spinoff, will air on Netflix. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer declared on Monday that “the iconic character, played by Pedro Alonso (Awareness, Gran Hotel), will be back with a new heist and more love.” The spinoff is based of Netflix‘s original series Money Heist which is about a peculiar gang of thieves tries to pull off the most flawless heist in Spanish history by robbing the Spanish Royal Mint of 2.4 billion euros.
“During its premiere week, ‘Berlin‘ was the most-watched series globally,” the streamer claims, adding a fresh cast photo. Among its most watched non-English language series, it currently stands at number nine.
Berlin‘s season one crew will return for season two, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The cast includes Begoña Vargas (Welcome to Eden) as Cameron, who lives on the edge; Julio Peña Fernández (Through My Window) as Roi, Berlin’s devoted squire; Michelle Jenner (Isabel), as Keila, an expert in electronic engineering; and Joel Sánchez as Bruce, the gang’s unrelenting man of action.
According to Netflix, the show has gained major success in its first week. Netflix states: “During its premiere week, Berlin was the most-watched series globally and reached the top 10 in 91 countries, since then, it has remained in the top 10 for seven consecutive weeks in non-English TV, amassing 348 million hours viewed and 53 million total views. The series is now ranked at number 9 among the most-watched non-English language series in the history of Netflix.”
The Hollywood Reporter claims that production on Berlin‘s second season, which was developed by Álex Pina (Money Heist, Sky Rojo) and Esther Martínez Lobato (Money Heist, Sky Rojo), will start in 2025.
