Netflix Adds Laurence Fishburne As A Fan-Favorite Character To The Fourth Season Cast Of ‘The Witcher’

Laurence Fishburne (Hannibal, Black-ish, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) has been added to Netflix’s The Witcher season four cast, ComicBook reports. He will be portraying the fan-favorite actor of Regis, now joining forces with Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust, Making The Witcher), who plays the character of Yennefer, Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, The Last Song, Most Dangerous Game) playing the character of Geralt, Joey Batey (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Billy the Kid, The White Queen), portraying Jasper, and Freya Allan (Gunpowder Milkshake, Baghead, Making The Witcher), portraying Ciri, in the new season’s quests. “I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher.” Fishburne shared statement, via ComicBook.

The background from Fishburne’s character Regis is interesting, to say the least.  His full name is Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy, and he is a 400-year-old high vampire. The book Baptism Of Fire is where this character is first introduced, where he meets the other characters (Geralt and Jaskier) where readers learn that Regis has been a long-time world traveler as a Barber-surgeon before then.

Alongside Geralt and Jaskier, Regis leads them on their quest and has an important role in the battles to help these main characters succeed. The series has been more keen on following the books’ storylines rather than the actual games, but maybe the show could pull out additional material from these games, someday, and add them to their future storylines.

According to ComicBook, the fourth season will see Hemsworth substituting actor Henry Cavill (Enola Holmes, Justice League, Man Of Steel), who left the show after the third season. Viewers are doubtful about how this actor switch will be shown in the actual series. The third season didn’t tackle this issue in the season finale, so viewers are hopeful the fourth season will clarify things for the character of Geralt. Season four is set to begin filming this upcoming spring, and the trailer can be seen here.

The Witcher‘s three seasons are now available for streaming on Netflix.
