

According to The Hollywood Reporter. Netflix has officially picked up Nemesis, a new crime drama series from Power creator Courtney A. Kemp (Power Book II: Ghost,Beauty and the Beast) and Tani Marole. The show, set in Los Angeles, explores the clash between a brilliant detective and an expert criminal.
It promises to subvert the traditional heist genre while diving into themes of family dynamics, loyalty, love, and loss. Nemesis is the first project under Kemp’s overall deal with Netflix, following her successful run with Lionsgate TV. Starring Matthew Law (Abbott Elementary), Y’Ian Noel (Insecure), and Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth), Nemesis takes viewers on a thrilling ride.
“Courtney’s shows have proven to dominate culture, and it’s exciting to have this be the first project from our creative partnership,” said Nne Ebong, Netflix’s VP of studio scripted series, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Kemp expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “We’re excited to bring a hard-hitting psychological crime drama to Netflix, exploring universal themes of right vs. wrong, love, loss, and loyalty.”
The series combines heart-pounding action with an emotional exploration of what drives its characters. Kemp will serve as the showrunner and executive producer, alongside Chris Selak (Power Book II: Ghost, Orange is the New Black) and Philipp Barnett (Euphoria, True Story). Mario Van Peebles (Empire, Power Book III: Raising Kanan) will direct the first two episodes, contributing his seasoned expertise to the series’ direction.
