Several sources are reporting that after all the speculation Neil Gaiman will be taking the reins for season 2 of American Gods. The busy author though continues to refute the claims via replies to posts on his Twitter account:
No.

I take that with so much joy. But it’s not actually true. I think some crossed wires.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht keeps attempting to make the fans happy by alluding to Gaiman’s involvement as playing a “central role” in the show. As previously reported, since Bryan Fuller’s exit rumors have continuously flowed around Gaiman.
Exits are not only on the production side but amongst the stars of American Gods. Gillian Anderson, who recently announced her departure from The X-Files, stated she would not be returning to her Goddess Media role.
Many are optimistic the author will change his mind if Starz gives Gaiman a television heavy co-showrunner but it’s not looking promising. With all of the changes and uncertainty, Albrecht appears positive, “We’re hoping for many more American Gods to appear on Starz.”
