It’s official! A second season of the NCIS procedural NCIS: Sydney is coming to CBS. According to Deadline, the second season will also be available to stream again on Paramount+ Australia.
NCIS: Sydney is the first international edition of the NCIS franchise. It premiered on Paramount+ Australia on Nov.10, 2023, and then on CBS in the U.S. and on Global in Canada on Nov.14, 2023.
Following its debut episode, the series amassed more than 10.2 million viewers on linear telecasts in the U.S. Deadline notes that the debut episode also included an encore episode.
As per Deadline, NCIS: Sydney held the No.1 spot for new series last fall and remains the No.3 for a new series from the 2023-2024 season, right behind the series Tracker and Elsbeth.
The series has proved to be incredibly successful in the U.S. as every episode drew over 8 million viewers from multiple platforms, including linear telecasts, CBS TVE in L+35-day viewing and Paramount+.
Deadline also notes that CBS Entertainment’s president, Amy Reisenbach, stated, “The global power of the NCIS franchise became even stronger on broadcast and streaming with the addition of NCIS: Sydney. Our American viewers have fully embraced these engaging characters, unique stories and the fabulous Australian scenery. We are thrilled to bring this show back to CBS next season and spend even more time down under.”
Morgan O’Neill (Drift), the showrunner and executive producer of the series who is from Endemol Shine Australia, also said via Deadline, “We’re especially thrilled to invite our audience deeper into the lives of our core team, peeling back the layers to find out what really makes them tick. This will be even more important as we see the bonds of the new family tested to breaking point in the face of a much more potent enemy looming on the horizon.”
The cast members of NCIS: Sydney include Tuuli Narkle (Mystery Road: Origin), Olivia Swann (River Wild), Mavournee Hazel (Neighbours), Sean Sagar (The Gentlemen), William McInnes (Blue Heelers), and Todd Lasance (Spartacus).
Paramount Australia and Endemol Shine Australia produce the series alongside CBS Studios. According to Deadline, NCIS: Sydney is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution, which is in Australia and handles international distributions. Michele Bennett (Mr. Inbetween), O’Neill and Sara Richardson (House Husbands) executively produce the series.
