‘NCIS: Sydney’ Makes Grand Debut

According to Deadline, the premiere of NCIS: Sydney drew in a whopping 5.48 million viewers with its debut on Tuesday night. It was the most-watched show during primetime across the broadcast networks. It premiered on CBS as well as being streamed live on Paramount+.

Deadline reported that NCIS: Sydney went up in average audience by 71% when compared to the season two premiere of NCIS: Hawaii which premiered last fall. This is also the first time that a global spinoff of a CBS drama has been created.

According to IMDB, the series follows “a talented and tireless team of Naval Criminal Investigative Services agents dedicated to solving criminal cases involving the Marines and the Navy.” The show features Australian actors and producers.

IMDB also highlighted the cast as including Olivia Swann as Special Agent Michelle Mackey (River Wild, Doctors); Todd Lasance as Sergeant Jim ‘JD’ Dempsey (True Spirit, Without Remorse); Sean Sagar as Special Agent Deshawn Jackson (Our Girl, The Gentlemen); Tuulie Narkle as Constable Evie Cooper (Bad Behavior, All My Friends Are Racist); Mavournee Hazel as AFP Forensic Scientist Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson (Neighbors, Home Kills); William McInnes as AFP Forensic Pathologist Doc Roy ‘Rosie’ Penrose (Blue Heelers, Unfinished Skies); and many other well-known names.

Along with NCIS: Sydney making its debut, NCIS: Hawai’i is also making a grand return, says Deadline. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike reaching an end, the show is being put back into production. Both NCIS: Hawai’i and the original series will return to production in February. Both shows gauge similar viewership to the newest rendition of NCIS: Sydney, with NCIS: Hawai’i season two gauging 5 million views and NCIS gauging nearly 7 million.

The new show joins the other NCIS spinoffs including NCIS: Los AngelesNCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS: Hawai’i. The original NCIS show has been on the air for almost twenty years, and it was recently renewed for new season which makes it the third-longest-running U.S. primetime drama series behind Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU.
