Michael Chiklis and Cheryl Hines will star in the remake of British series, Cuckoo, on NBC as parents.
Michael Chiklis (American Horror Story: Freak Show) will return to comedy along with Cheryl Hines in NBC’s new pilot, Cuckoo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cuckoo, follows a daughter (Rachel DiPillo) coming back from a summer abroad. Upon her return, she tells her father (Michael Chiklis) she has married a charming yet extremely eccentric man named Cuckoo (Flula Borg).
Chiklis will play Ken, the girl’s father. His character is an attorney who’s shocked by the news of her daughter’s marriage to Cuckoo. He becomes upset when he learns she no longer plans on following his foot steps in attending law school.
Cuckoo will mark Chiklis’ to a comedy and NBC, where he previously starred on Daddio. His credits also include various guest voices on Fox’s Family Guy and Seinfeld as well as regular roles on dramas The Commish, Vegas and No Ordinary Family. WME, Management 360 and Stone Meyer represent Chiklis.
Cheryl Hines will play Lori, Ken’s wife. She is described as a carefree woman who sees the absolute best in people. She immediately thinks that Cuckoo is bringing out a positive change in her daughter. The role will mark Hines’ latest credit following ABC’s Suburgatory and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She’s represented by WME, Principal Entertainment and Stone Meyer.
Writing the script for NBC will be Robin French, Kieron Quirke and Tim Long. Ash Atalla, Bob Simonds and Tim Long (The Simpsons) will be producing.
