Natalie Zea will reprise her role as Claire Matthews in the second season of the Following—though perhaps not for long.
Her character’s fate was left up in the air at the end of the Fox drama’s freshman season, leaving viewers wondering about Zea’s future on the series. “My concern, and [creator] Kevin Williamson’s concern, was always, is there more story to tell with Claire?” Zea tells TVGuide. “We both discovered that maybe there wasn’t,” indicating that she was unlikely to return for the second season.
As such, Zea did not reveal how long she would remain a part of the Following cast. Her return may be brief, only allowing Kevin Bacon’s Ryan Hardy a chance to say goodbye to her character.
Zea is next slated to recur in CBS’ Under the Dome. Her arc begins in the series’ August 19 episode.
