Young adult series Nancy Wu Done It is set to premiere on Amazon, according to Deadline. The series was put together by writers and executive producers Kai Yu Wu (Paper Girls, Carnival Row) and Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, Game of Thrones), although there is no cast is attached to the project. Wu and Henwick describe the work as a mashup of Pleasantville and Nancy Drew.
The mystery-comedy series, which is still in development, follows a frustrated Asian American young adult novelist who finds herself transported into one of her books. Consequently, she must navigate the story and work with the titular character she created – and comes to hate – in order to solve an unfinished mystery.
Wu continues working with Amazon with this project, previously serving as co-executive producer on Paper Girls and Carnival Row. She was also the creator and head writer of Netflix’s The Ghost Bride. Her previous credits include Deception, Time After Time, The Flash and Hannibal.
Henwick is best known for her acting role of Colleen Wing in Iron Fist and Nymeria Sand of the Sand Snakes in Game of Thrones. She recently appeared in Underwater alongside Kristen Stewart (Twilight franchise) and has numerous upcoming credits including On The Rocks, Monster Problems, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Matrix 4.
Nancy Wu Done It comes from Amazon Studios in association with Vertigo Entertainment with Vertigo’s Roy Lee (It franchise) and Miri Yoon (Death Note) as executive producers.
