Mutant Limbo? ‘X-Men ’97’ Season Two Hits A Snag And Gets Addressed By Series Original Creator

While having a successful first season, the highly acclaimed Marvel animated series , X-Men ’97 , has allegedly hit snag with production on their second season.. The animated series is a fresh take on the popular group of mutants and has a stellar cast which consists of Ray Chase (Genshin Impact, Demon Slayer) as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale (Totally Spies, Xialion Chronicles) as Jean Grey and A.J. LoCascio (Voltron: Legendary Defender, The Pirate Fairy) as Gambit. According to Screenrant, former series creator, Beau DeMayo (The Witcher, Moon Knight), goes on to give an update on the season with a post on his official X page. 

According to Screenrant, DeMayo has stated that the sudden halt is due to alleged creative difficulties that started immediately after his departure, even before the release of the first season. He further goes on and states that even though he had left blueprints on how the show had been constructed, the team allegedly threw away his work and that the current writer, Jake Castorena (Batman: The Killing Joke, Star Trek: Prodigy), allegedly has nothing to do with the writing of the series.

According to Screenrant, due to the succession of the first season, X-Men ’97 has already been renewed for a second and third season. The season will surely pick up where the first one ended with the team being separated into different timelines, with majority of the characters landing in the year 3960 A.D. in Egypt and meeting a younger version of Apocalypse, voiced by Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead, Avengers: Infinity War).

According to Screenrant, the future season will surely show different perspectives as the different teams will come up with a plan to try to reconnect with each other and to return to their original time.

While fans await on when the second season will start up again, the entire first season of X-Men ’97 is available to stream on Disney+.
