Marvel’s newly released animated series, Marvel’s Zombie follows the events of what transpired within the fifth episode of Marvel’s What If…?, and continuing where the narrative ended. According to Comicbook, the series opens up with Spider-man, voiced by Hudson Thames (Marmaduke, Oak), Soctt Lang aka Ant-Man, voiced by Pauld Rudd (Death of a Unicorn, Ant-Man and Wasp) and Black Panther failing their mission to send a signal to the world by using the mind stone, which allowed Wanda, voiced by Elizabeth Olsen (Wandavision, Avengers: Age of Ultron) to continue her reign and become queen of the dead.
Stated by Comicbook, the apocalypse of the miniseries has been speculated to have began in 2018, when Hank Pymm, voiced by Michael Douglas (Phineas and Ferb, Green Eggs and Ham) went to save his wife and got infected. This action has alternated the timelime within the Marvel Universe, by introducing characters within marvel’s phase four series such as Kamala Kahn, voiced by Iman Vellani (The Marvels, Ms. Marvel), Kate Bisop, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld (Sinners, Hawkeye) and Riri Williams, voiced by Dominique Thorne (Ironheart, Freaky Tale).
Furthermore Comicbook states, the series has removed most well-known Marvel characters from the spotlight, which let the newcomers have a turn to lead, such as Shang-Chi, voiced by Simu Liu (Jackpot!, Barbie), Katy, voiced by Awkwafina (The Bad Guy, Raya the Last Dragon), and the new Blade Moon Knight, voiced by Todd Williams (Panic, San Andreas).
The finale ended on a massive hanger. Kamala supposedly stopped the apocalypse by joining powers with Wanda, but then her perspective started to warp, and she saw the original zombie reality. According to Comicbook, there are several theories about what happened, with one being that Wanda never cured herself but has zombified the entire world and kept Kamala in her own matrix.
