Information about the anticipated X-Files revival series has slowly been revealed and thanks to the TCAs new details have emerged.
The biggest news for longtime fans is that their favorite couple has split. Mulder and Scully will not be together when the revival premieres in January on Fox. The first clue was in the clip that was played at the TCAs that showed David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully having a fight. Scully described herself as “your friend and physician” to Mulder, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Fox confirmed that the pair will not be in a happy romantic relationship when the show comes back. Some fans were not happy with the news and liked the couple as they were. The tension between Scully and Mulder before they got together was one of the key aspects of the original series though, so it’s not hard to think that Fox is trying to recreate that magic by separating them again.
The scene that Fox screened during the TCAs was reported on by Zap2It. It shows the dialogue where Scully reveals they are just friends but it also gives a first look at the conspiracy the revival will explore. The Americans’ Annet Mahendru plays Sveta, an alien abduction victim. In the clip, Mulder reveals she is in his apartment and says she is key to everything.
