MTV Passes On Catelynn and Tyler’s “Heavy” ‘Teen Mom’ Spin-Off

Last December, MTV aired a special featuring Catelynn and Tyler from Teen Mom OG. The special, called Teen Mom: Reunited, saw the couple approaching families attempting to reconcile their torn relationships brought on by family struggles, similar to that of what Catelynn and Tyler faced by giving up their newborn for adoption years ago.

But now In Touch Weekly reports MTV axed the series for being “too heavy,” Tyler was quoted saying in tweet on Wednesday. Disappointed from the news, Tyler expressed on his Twitter account that the special reached “#2 on cable TV that night.” He created a poll asking fans if they would like to see more episodes.

Catelynn and Tyler have been on Teen Mom OG since 2009 when MTV documented their decision to give up daughter Carly for adoption. Since then, the couple gave birth to a daughter Novalee “Nova” Reign on January 1, 2015. On August 22, 2015, the couple were married.

Teen Mom premiered in 2009 as a spin-off to 16 and Pregnant. The show documents the lives of teenage girls transitioning into motherhood, while dealing with strained relationships. After going on a hiatus in 2012, the series was revived in 2015.

E! News just announced fellow co-stars Amber Portwood and Matt Baier will appear on Marriage Boot Camp alongside another co-star Teen Mom Farrah Abraham on WEtv.
