Network FX gave the green light to a new comedy series from the creator of Reno 911!. According to Deadline, the new workplace mockumentary, Movers, will center on an eclectic bunch of co-dependent movers. Robert Garant and Cathy Shim are the creators and executive producers of the series.
Deadline reports Movers will star Shim, Maz Jobrani (Friday After Next, 13 Going on 30), Darius Homayoun (Succession, Tehran), standup comedian Tanral “TJ” Joachim (United States of Comedy, Bad for Love), Manny Montana (Good Girls, Ironheart), and WWE’s Becky Lynch, whose real name is Rebecca Quinn.
This creative team is no stranger to hits on television. Garant’s resume includes Seoul Hunters, which he co-produced with Shim, Big Breakfast, and Propagate Content, according to Deadline. Writer, actress, and producer Shim recently starred in K-Pops!, the directorial debut from Anderson Paak (OXNARD, Venice). Joining Garant and Shim as executive producers are Jonny Shipes (Is It A Crime?, BMF: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Drug Empire), Peter Principato (Hit & Run, Central Intelligence), and Stacey Sher (Heretic, Poolman). All three will work on the pilot.
Reno 911! premiered on Comedy Central in 2003, with Garant teaming with stars Thomas Lennon (The Odd Couple, Night at the Museum) and Kerri-Kenny Silver (The Four Seasons, Bob’s Burgers). The series focused on a dysfunctional police force in Reno, Nevada, that patrolled the rural desert and Sunset Strip of nearby Las Vegas. The show ran for eight seasons and co-starred Nicey Nash (The Rookie, NYPD Blues), Cedric Yarbrough (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Boss), Wendy McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids, Blended), and Carlos Alazraqui (Mr. Big, Road of Vengeance). It would also launch a spinoff film, Reno 911!: Miami, in 2017.
Recently, FX released the half-hour comedy Adults on Hulu, centering on twenty-somethings growing up in NYC from creators Rebecca Shaw (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon) and Ben Kronengold (The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon).
Movers will set to premiere on FX in 2025.
