Motor City Masters from truTV has revealed a slate of guest judges for the series first season.
The series is produced in collaboration with Chevrolet and viewers can expect to see celebrity guest judges all season long. Some of the judges include actress/producer Melissa Joan Hart, actor Jesse Metcalfe, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, baseball’s David Justice and former NASCAR driver Robby Gordon. Also slated to be guest judges are dog trainer Tamar Geller, Vice President of Design for Mattel Hot Wheels Felix Holst, model/surfer Malia Jones, Trevor Mann, GM vice president of global design Edward T. Welburn Jr.
The series is hosted by Brooke Burns and will premiere on June 24. It centers on 10 experienced designers who are extremely skilled and share a passion for car design. Every episode contestants must create a new, fully functional concept car based on that episodes theme. Some of the themes include car character designs, which will tie into the theatrical premiere of Transformers: Age of Extinction, transforming a Chevy into a NASCAR racing machine and a Hot Wheels theme car design. Official judges on the show are president and editor-in-chief of Automobile Magazine Jean Jennings, and internationally renowned car designer Harald Belker. Winners will be crowned “The Next Great Car Designer,” receive a 2014 Camero z28, $100,000 cash and be named Brand Ambassador for GM.
Bunim/Murray Productions and The Story Lab produce Motor City Masters. Executive producers on the series are Jonathon Murray, Gil Goldschein, Rick de Oliveira, Scott Freeman, and Lisa Eisenpresser. Co-executive producer is Kirk Durham.
Motor City Masters premieres on truTV on June 27 at 10 PM ET/PT.
