On Thursday, Marvel released a new featurette on the next installment of their Disney+ series, Moon Knight, with star Oscar Issac (Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) as well as other stars and crew members. Issac also gave more insight into his character and how the show tries to emphasize mental health in the new featurette as well.
“Our job was to put a lens on the things that had the most dramatic juice,” Isaac says in the featurette. “And ultimately, take the mental health aspect incredibly seriously.”
The featurette includes interviews from Issac, Ethan Hawke (Training Day), May Calamawy (The Long Road Home), executive producer Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame), and director Mohamed Diab (Clash).
Hawke, who plays Arthur Harrow, says “Moon Knight is being introduced to a new superhero in a new world.”
Feige commented on the character as well, discussing his unique look.
“Moon Knight is a spectacular character who’s got an incredibly unqiue visual look,” Feige explained.
Diab discusssed how we learn about two characters in one when it comes to Moon Knight, who has two different identities.
“The way we’re tackling the story, we learn about Steven, and then learn about Marc,” Diab said. “And they’re the same person.”
Calamawy, who plays Layla, gave an interesting comparison for the show, citing two iconic movie franchises.
“The tone is like Fight Club meets Indiana Jones,” Calamawy said. “It’s a bit dark at times. To tie into something so fast and supernatural, it’s amazing.”
Hawke made additonal comments on the show, speaking on the show’s “duality.”
“Every aspect of this show has a duality and we’ve shifted the paradigm,” Hawke says.
Moon Knight will release on Disney+ March 30th. It is executive produced by Feige, Issac, Diab, Louis D’Esposito (Item 47), Victoria Alonso (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Grant Curtis (A Simple Plan) and Brad Winderbaum (Ant-Man).
