Monsterverse Takes Over: ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Renewed for Season Two, Spinoffs Planned

Apple TV+ roars with excitement as a new deal was made with Legendary Studio (Carnival Row) green lighting a second season from Monarch:Legacy of Monsters. According to Deadline, the series follows the perspective of Cate Randa played by Anna Sawai (Shogun), and Kentaro played by Ren Watabe (461 Days of Bento), half siblings, who investigate the disappearance of their fathers, and slowly discover his connection to Monarch. A deal was made with Legendary Studio and green light and planned for a second season, as well in multiple spinoff series

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has left an indelible imprint on the hearts, minds and imaginations of audiences around the world, led by the brilliance of Chris, Matt, Kurt, Wyatt and the incredibly gifted talented cast and creative team,” said Morgan Wandell, head of international development for Apple TV+add via Deadline. “We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two, but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse.”

The series finale showed Lee played by Kurt Russel (The Thing), Keiko played by Mari Yamamoto (Story Game), May played by Kiersey Clemons (The Flash), and Cate using the distraction between the battle of Godzilla and the unnamed titan to escape from the hollow earth.

According to Deadline, the upcoming season of the acclaimed sci-fi series will be co- produced by Chris Black (Lone Stars) and Matt Fraction (Avengers vs X-Men).The Monstervsere started with the 2014 Godzilla film and has continued accumulating around $2B at the box office, with the most recent film, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, topping the box office with $380 million.
