According to Deadline, Netflix’s premiere of Monday Night Raw saw a large number of average audience when it aired on the streamer. The number count outdid how many viewers usually tune in on the original home of Monday Night Raw, the USA Network. Monday’s episode of the wrestling event averaged 2.6M households live + same-day in the U.S. as reported by VideoAmp.
Audiences may have been watching the event in different locations, but it’s no surprise that Monday Night Raw has brought in an amazing number of viewers.
As per Deadline, Netflix reported that the numbers are much higher than the 2024 average of 1.2M households per episode and even higher than the Monday Night Raw broadcasts within the last five years. Although this is the case, the numbers could not be fully compared with those of USA Network, as they use Nielsen to measure their audience score, and Netflix uses VideoAmp. Nielsen and VideoAmp use different measurement forms to calculate their audience score, so it is difficult to conclude how much of a difference there is.
VideoAmp’s data will use the more inflated number instead of Nielsen, which may use the lower audience score. Nielsen did this even with Monday night’s premiere and, more recently, with CBS’ Golden Globes earlier this week.
According to Deadline, within 24 hours of its broadcast on Netflix, Monday Night Raw had up to 4.9M viewers globally. This includes 92 countries and territories where Netflix doesn’t yet distribute WWE, such as France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, the Philippines and South Korea. It is still too soon to calculate the number as no data is available for Monday Night Raw’s network, which also doesn’t typically report Live+1 data.
The current deal between Netflix and the WWE makes the streamer the exclusive home for Monday Night Raw through a $5 billion, 10-year rights deal.
The next episode of Raw will be available to stream on Netflix on Monday.
