With the 50th season of the beloved sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live coming in hot this fall, fans and viewers are eager to hear any news regarding changes to the cast. According to Deadline, Molly Kearney, the first non-binary cast member of SNL, will not be returning for season 50. The news comes after their fellow castmate Punkie Johnson also announced that she would not be returning as well.
On social media today, Kearney posted a bunch of photos from their time at SNL. The photo dump is filled with fond memories and holds a caption thanking all those who carried on with Kearney through their time at SNL and shouting out their fellow castmates who joined as featured players at the same time that they did.
The caption to the Instagram post reads, “Y’all that’s a wrap on my time on SNL! Reflecting on the amazing 2 seasons I got on this show, it was such a dream come true. So incredibly grateful for this period in my life.” They then continue, “So much love to all my big hearted buddies behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week. So many bald caps, so little time. It was a true honor to work with such a talented group of writers and DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE CAST. Special shout out to my day 1 crew @marcellohdz @internetdevon and @longfellow_michael. Head up and heart out! Harold forever!!!!!”
According to Deadline, Kearney joined the cast alongside Johnson, Marcello Hernandez, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker. On their Instagram post, several cast members commented in support of Kearney. Cast member Molly Shannon (Superstar, The Other Two) commented, “What an incredible run, Molly. Proud to know you. You make Cleveland proud.” Hernandez kept it simple with, “My brother for life 🤞🏽❤🔥,” as the comment.
