Julie Bowen (Happy Gilmore), known for her role as Claire Dunphy on ABC’s Modern Family, made news stories after helping to rescue a woman who had fainted on a hike in Utah, according to Variety. The woman, Minnie John, posted her experience on Facebook, also sharing photos of her with the actress.
John was on a family vacation in Arches National Park when she began to feel weak. While she decided to sit on a rock and rest, she told her husband and son to continue their hike. John suddenly fainted on the rock, hit her nose, and was subsequently found by Bowen and her sister, Annie, a doctor.
After several hikers ran ahead to find John’s family, the sisters offered her peanut butter pretzels and discovered the reason for her fall. John, a diabetic, fainted due to low blood sugar and dehydration after not eating much by 7 p.m. when the incident occurred. Still, John is grateful to the familiar voice who helped her come to with randomized questioning, as well as her sister. “I told my Samaritans that I was so proud of what I had achieved climbing to the top,” John wrote. “Had I known it was so treacherous, I would not have done it, but I was so proud I reached the top and got to meet my good Samaritans God sent for me at the right moment.”
