According to Deadline, Miramax TV has just announced that Daisy Ridley (the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Murder on the Orient Express) will both star in and executive produce the live-action series adaptation of author Nina de Gramont’s (Every Little Thing in the World, Meet Me at the River) best-selling book, The Christie Affair. The murder mystery show will be produced and developed by Miramax TV with Juliette Towhidi (Testament of Youth, Death Comes to Pemberly) set to adapt the script for the small screen.
As written by Deadline, The Christie Affair is set in 1926 and tells the true story of Agatha Christie’s eleven day disappearance following the public’s discovery of her husband’s torrid love affair with his mistress Nan O’Dea (Ridley). The series follows the intrepid Nan as she searches for answers relating to Agatha’s sudden vanishing and becomes entangled in the murder mystery author’s life in ways that neither woman could have ever anticipated.
The Christie Affair was published by St. Martin’s press earlier this year in February of 2022 and since then has become a no. 1 bestseller throughout the UK. The book was also included on the New York Times Bestseller list and was featured in Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Book Club.
The series will be supervised by Marina Niel for Miramax UK with Ridley, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (Wendell & Wild, My Best Friend’s Exorcism), Rich Green (What the F@#- is Cancer and Why Does Everybody Have It?), Jeremy Bell (The Spiderwick Chronicles, Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and DJ Goldberg (Whiteout, The Factory) serving as executive producers.
According to Marc Helwig, Head of Worldwide Television at Miramax TV, the team could not be more delighted to have Ridley joining their exciting new project and are elated to see how she will bring the character of Nan O’Dea to life. Currently, there is no word from Miramax TV as to when a release date for The Christie Affair can be expected.
