Miracle Workers, the anthology series that started in 2019, is concluding with its fourth season, which aired its finale on August 28, according to Deadline. Throughout each of the seasons, the stories spanned across different periods. The show follows the perspective of two angels, Ezekiel played by Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Mulligan), and Alexandra by Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers, Cat Person), who after hearing that God, played by Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Boardwalk Empire), will destroy Earth, try to stop their boss and save the planet.
According to Deadline, Miracle Workers was TBS’s final live-action comedy on the network. Most of its scripted programming was vacated as a result of the WarnerMedia and Discovery merger led by CEO David Zaslav. American Dad remains the lone original series on the network.
According to Deadline, the cancellation is not entirely unexpected, with the show’s ratings taking a drastic decline from recent seasons. TBS also no longer had options on the cast, which would have made greenlighting a fifth season very difficult. Additionally, the show’s anthology format may have made it difficult for some viewers to follow.
The fourth season saw Radcliffe and Viswanathan take on suburbia in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, via Deadline. The main cast also included Karan Soni (Deadpool 2, Strange Planet) and Jon Bass (Grey’s Anatomy, Among the Beasts). Guest stars included Lolly Adefope (Ghosts, Saltburn), Paul F. Tompkins (BoJack Horseman, There Will Be Blood), Lisa Loeb (House on Haunted Hill, Legally Blonde), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary, A Black Lady Sketch Show), Kyle Mooney (Killing It, No Hard Feelings), Garcelle Beauvais (The Jamie Foxx Show, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), and Ego Nwodim (Saturday Night Live, Good Burger 2).
