Quality Control is doubling down on its TV and Film production endeavors. The record label is responsible for artists like Lil Yachty and Migos. Quality Control has struck a co-production deal with Trioscope Studios according to Deadline.
The companies are already in development of their first project. The TV series will be a horror series about the African American struggle in America based on a graphic novel. Trioscope studios is behind Netflix’s animated hybrid drama The Liberator. The deal envisions their collaborative projects utilizing Trioscope’s animation techniques and developing scripted programming form Quality Control’s roster of artists and athletes.
Founded by Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “Pee” Thomas, Quality Control has put out records by some of Hip Hop’s biggest new artists. Their roster includes artists Lil Baby, City Girls, Lil Yachty and Migos. The company also manages artists including Cardi B and Trippie Redd. On the athletic side they manage NFL stars including New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara and Detroit Lions’ D’Andre Swift.
Quality Control’s TV & Film division, Quality Films is run by Brian Sher (How High 2). The company has produced projects including City Girls –The Series, a five part YouTube series about the band’s City On Lock album, and Instagram Live series Mastery. The company is also working on the upcoming Issa Rae produced Rap Sh*t series at HBO Max and a movie franchise with Mattel Films based on the card game UNO starring and produced by Lil Yachty.
Trioscope’s flagship project is the upcoming adult animated war drama The Liberator. The series created by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard) launched on Netflix this past November. The company consist of Stuff You Should Know producers Crowley and Barr along with former LucasFilm and Industrial Light & Magic VFX creative Greg Jonkajtys (Marvel’s Doctor Strange). The collective uses a new animated technology that combines state of the art CGI with live action performance. Trioscope is currently working on new projects with Netflix, Dark Horse Comics, and Unique Features.
