Michelle Yeoh Takes The Lead In Prime Video’s ‘Blade Runner 2099’

According to Deadline, Michelle Yeoh (The Haunting in Venice) who has won the Best Actress Award for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once is set to star in the highly anticipated limited series, Blade Runner 2099.  She was recently seen in Netflix’s The limited series will served as a sequel to both the Ridley Scott’s (Napoleon) classic 1982 neo-noir film, Blade Runner and Denis Villeneuve’s (Dune:Part One) critically acclaimed 2017 follow-up, Blade Runner 2049.

Michelle first gained recognition for her acting in a number of Hong Kong films in the 1990s. She then went on to star in more well-known hits. She has recently starred in The Witcher: Blood Origins and The Brothers Sun on Netflix. According to Deadline, she was recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest. Yeah will be seen in Jon M. Chu’s Wicked, as well as her future pictures which consists of reposing her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in Star Trek: Section 31, as well in James Cameron’s Avatar.

According to Deadline, the shows was supposedly to be set in Belfast, but followed a delay due to the double strike in 2023, and now is being filmed in Praque. Together with Scott, Silver Luisa (Halo) will serve as the show’s producer. Other collaborators include Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove (Point Break) and Broderick Johnson (The Book of Eli), Ben Roberts (The Expanse), David W. Zucker (Superhero Movie), Clayton Krueger (Kaleidoscope), Tom Spezialy, Richard Sharkey (Chernobyl Diaries), Michael Green (Blue Eye Samurai), Cynthia Yorkin (Love Hurts), Frank Giustra (Buster), and Isa Dick Hackett (The Adjustment Bureau) from Scott Free Productions.

As of right now, little is known about Michelle’s character or the limited series’ plot. The series will provide a chance to delve deeper into the dystopian setting of the highly regarded science fiction movie. Characters from the franchise’s earlier entries may make brief appearances in the series.
