According to Deadline Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl) has passed away at the age of 39, with her cause of death remaining undetermined. The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner stated that no autopsy would be conducted due to religious reasons. Authorities responded to a 911 call early Wednesday morning at a luxury residential tower in Midtown Manhattan, where Trachtenberg was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have ruled out foul play or criminal activity, meaning the medical examiner did not override the family’s request. Deadline reports that Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and may have suffered complications. A family spokesperson confirmed her passing in a statement.
“It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.”

Deadline highlights her later success in the 2004 comedy EuroTrip and Disney’s Ice Princess. In 2008, she became a fan-favorite as Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl, known for her unpredictable and manipulative nature. She also starred in 17 Again alongside Zac Efron and Matthew Perry.
