The First Lady will guest and play herself on the season finale of the series.
Michelle Obama will star as a guest on the season finale of Parks and Recreation, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter. The First Lady appearance will be in the episode titled Moving Up, which was filmed in Miami in late February. That is actually where she celebrated investments in healthier out-of-school programs as part of her Let’s Move initiative dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity.
Michelle Obama is that latest politician to appear in the series, which has included Vice President Joe Biden, Arizona Senator John McCain, California Senator Barbara Boxer and former Maine Senator Olympia Snowe. Still, Michael Schur, the executive producer of the show, has his eyes on ultimate personality for the series, Hillary Clinton.
“I always imagined the perfect ending to the series — and I hope it’s not for a while — would be a casual piece of B-roll where Leslie is walking through a building in Washington, D.C., and passes Hillary Clinton, and Hillary Clinton says, ‘Leslie.’ Leslie says, ‘Secretary Clinton,’ and keeps walking,” said Schur. “That might still be five seasons away, but that’s the trajectory I would like Leslie to enjoy.”
Parks and Rec focuses on Leslie Knope, a proud civil servant in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee. The TV series stars Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Retta and Jim O’Heir. The show is a production of Deedle-Dee Productions, Fremulon, 3 Arts Entertainment and Universal Television.
The one-hour Season 6 finale of the NBC sitcom is exec. produced by Greg Daniels, Michael Schur, Howard Klein, David Miner, Morgan Sackett and Dean Holland. It will air on Thursday, April 24 at 8 p.m.
