After eight years of presidential life, the Obamas started appearing in the news not for speeches and state dinners; but for flip-flops, biking, kite surfing, and general “chilling.” But they couldn’t stay away forever. According to Politico, the pair are gearing up for their post-presidential speaking gigs and book deals. Though a kitesurfing career doesn’t seem too out of the question for Barack.

Next, the former First Lady will be returning to the public eye in a guest appearance on MasterChef Junior. Of course, Michelle Obama’s interest in kids and healthy eating makes this appearance a no-brainer. AOL Entertainment News reports that Mrs. Obama will be a guest judge, but Time’s Motto corrected their own initial report; saying instead that she will be a guest-star and not a guest-judge.
MasterChef Junior‘s current judges, Gordon Ramsay and Christina Tosi, are one short in the current fifth season of the kid cooking competition. Instead of replacing previous judge Graham Elliot with a permanent chef, there will be a series of rotating guests. Included on the possible lineup, aside from Michelle Obama, are The Muppets and Martha Stewart, according to Rare.

A healthy food challenge would be fitting for Mrs. Obama’s appearance, as she has devoted much energy to the “Let’s Move” campaign and fighting childhood obesity. This appearance boosts confidence that Michelle won’t be giving up on her efforts to keep kids healthy and happy, nor will the Obamas be too far out of the public sphere.
Hopefully the young hopeful chefs on Gordon Ramsay’s show will cook up some healthy, nutrient-packed dishes for the former First Lady. Though what they will whip up for The Muppets’ delicate palates remains a mystery.
