Michelle Mendelovitz Steps Down As Head Of Mattel Television Studios

After joining Mattel Television Studios last November, Michelle Mendelovitz (Barny’s World) has stepped down as the studio leader. According to Deadline, a representative from the company came out to confirm Mendelovitz’s departure with no additional comments other than Mattel Television is doing its best to find a suitable replacement.

Mendelovitz has not commented as to why she left Mattel Television Studio, nine months after she joined, but Deadline claims that Mendelovitz has reached out to Bare Knuckles attorney Bryan Freedman and his services to navigate her exit from Mattel Television Studios. In an interview, Freedman detailed Mendelovitz’s current situation and reasoning as to why she felt the need to force her way out of the studio.

“Michelle is a seasoned and well-respected television executive. She was hired by Mattel and assembled a high-caliber team to build out a preeminent television studio for an otherwise dysfunctional company. It is unfortunate that certain members of Mattel leadership prevented her from doing so. She is prepared for legal action but hopeful that it will not be necessary. Time will tell if others follow,” Freedman told Deadline.

Mattel Television Studios has yet to provide a comment on either Freedman’s statement or about Mendelovitz’s departure.

Throughout her time overseeing Mattel Television Studios, Mendelovitz was involved in the development, production and distribution of a new Barny the Dinosaur animated series, Barny’s World for Max and Cartoon Network.

Before working at Mattel Television Studios, Mengelovitz served as an executive producer at Hiddenlight Productions, where she worked alongside Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton to create documentaries and unscripted and scripted entertainment for Hiddenlight Productions. According to Deadline, Mendelovitz also served as SVP (Head of Drama Development) at 20th Century, as the Senior Creative Executive for Scripted & Unscripted Programming at Apple and as VP of Scripted Programming (Drama & Comedy) at Sony Pictures Television.
