Netflix has officially announced the trio to star in their upcoming anthology series, Anatomy of a Scandal, as The Hollywood Reporter reports. The David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) drama series will star Michelle Dockery (Downtown Abbey, Good Behavior), Rupert Friend (Hitman: Agent 47, Homeland), and Sienna Miller (American Sniper, 21 Bridges).
Based on a novel by Sarah Vaughan (The Art of Baking Blind, Little Disasters), Anatomy of a Scandal is a suspenseful series surrounding the privilege of the wealthy in London. News of the series was initially released in May. Dockery plays the role of Kate Woodcroft, a lawyer who specializes in sexual crimes who is about to take on the biggest case of her career. Friend will play the role of James Whitehouse, a minister who was accused of a heinous crime. Meanwhile, Miller is set to play the role of Jame’s wife, Sophie Whitehouse, an Oxford alumni and mother of two whose life is about to implode.
Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies) and Kelley, who previously worked together on Big Little Lies, will reunite as producers of this series. The pair currently have several other projects in the works, including The Undoing, which premieres in October, and Kelley’s ABC series Big Sky which will premiere in November as well as his Disney+ drama series Big Shots and an upcoming adaptation series of Stephen King’s novel The Institute.
Kelley and Melissa James Gibson (House of Cards, The Americans) will serve as showrunners and executive producers of the six episodes of Anatomy of a Scandal. Alongside the pair, Liza Chasin (The Loudest Voice), Papandrea, Steve Hutensky (The Nightingale, Limitless), and Allie Goss (Luke Cage, The Defenders, Jessica Jones) will also serve as executive producers.
