NCIS alum Michael Weatherly (Bull, Major Crimes) just sent “Tiva” fans into a frenzy. Weatherly, who played Agent Anthony DiNozzo, teased the possible return of fan-favorite characters Ziva and Tony to NCIS, according to Deadline.
Weatherly teased the possible return of the couple via a series of tweets. The NCIS alum reflected on the new year ahead and “enjoying the moment” which led to a fan replaying that “we all would rather look at you and Ziva reuniting.” The actor quoted the tweet and added, “Stay tuned… for this might be an interesting year for such ‘moments’!” Read the series of tweets below.
According to Deadline, Weatherly played DiNozzo for thirteen seasons of the CBS drama NCIS. His last appearance on the show was on the season thirteen finale where the NCIS team learns that Ziva David, played by Cote de Pablo (The Jury, Seneca), had died in an attack. DiNozzo’s life changes when he learns that Ziva had given birth to his daughter Tali years before. Tony then decides to leave NCIS to take care of his daughter and move to Paris together.
In season sixteen, the audience gets a hint that Ziva is still alive when she leaves NCIS agent Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham (Glitch, Gone), a note asking her to not investigate anything about her. In season seventeen, fans got to see Ziva come back to NCIS for a couple of episodes revealing that she hadn’t been dead but on the run. The show didn’t reveal if Ziva and Tony had reunited off-camera, which makes a future reunion a possibility.
NCIS focuses on a group of special agents that work together to solve crimes against US military members. Over the years the team has gone through some changes seeing fan-favorite characters like Abby Sciuto, played by Pauley Perrette (Broke, Fantasy Hospital); Ziva David, Ellie Bishop, and Anthony Dinozzo leave the team. Recently the main character and leader of the team Leroy Jethro Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon (Freaky Friday, Chasing Liberty), left the show after nineteen seasons as the leader. Of the original cast Timothy Mcgee, played by Sean Murray (Hocus Pocus, Jonesy), and Dr. Mallard “Ducky,” played by David McCallum (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Great Escape), remain on the show.
A crossover of the three NCIS shows will occur on January 9. Don’t forget to watch it on Paramount+. All seasons of NCIS are available to stream on Paramount+.
