Michael Waldron Confirms He Will Not Return to Write ‘Loki’ Season 2

Season two of Loki seems to have made additional changes amid production in a few weeks. According to Comicbook, writer Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) confirmed in an interview with Digital Spy that he was replaced as head writer for the second season of the Marvel series.

Waldron has been the pen behind multiple projects in the MCU, having written the first season of Loki and the upcoming film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Eric Martin (Rick and Morty) will take on Waldron’s role, but he assured that there will not be significant changes to show.

“Well, I mean, look, everything leads into everything,” Waldron said, via Digital Spy. “We’ve hired a couple of great directors. [Justin] Benson and [Aaron] Moorhead [Loki season two directors] are brilliant. And Eric Martin has taken over as head writer for season 2. So the creative team is fantastic. As Tom [Hiddleston] once said, there’s plenty more mischief to come.”

Waldron also talked about the transition from writing Loki to Doctor Strange 2 and how the creative team made sure the transition is as easy as possible.

In addition to Martin taking on the head writer role, Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will replace Kate Herron as directors for season two. Last week, Tom Hiddleston (Thor franchise) confirmed that production will begin in the coming weeks.

Loki season one can be streamed on Disney+.
