Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino (The Batman, Up) will make his directorial debut on the upcoming Marvel Halloween special on Disney+, via The Hollywood Reporter. The composer-turned-director has previously worked on Doctor Strange and the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy.
Production on the special is set to begin later this month. The special has been long-rumored to be based on the Werewolf By Night character, but according to sources at The Hollywood Reporter, the special will not be titled after the character when it hits Disney+ in the fall.
Gael Garcia Bernal (Coco) is set to play the lead, and he will be joined by Laura Donelly (The Nevers), who is rumored to play Nina Price, aka Vampire By Night. It is unknown what iteration of the Werewolf By Night character Bernal will be playing, either Jack Price or Jake Gomez. Plot details are being kept under wraps.
The Halloween special will be one of many MCU projects coming to the streamer. Moon Knight will be premiering later this month, as well as the arrivals of She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

He has ties to director J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), composing for Lost and the Star Trek films. He got his start working on Pixar films.
