According to Deadline, Michael Casey has informed his colleagues that he is leaving Left Bank Pictures after being associated with the company for 16 years.
Established in 2007 and owned by Sony Pictures Television, Left Bank Pictures is a British company that produces films and television shows, the most prominent being crime drama series Wallander, historical drama Outlander and spy drama Strike Back. Left Bank Pictures also made The Crown, which is especially notable for being the first British-American television series produced exclusively for Netflix. Casey has played a crucial role in producing all six seasons of The Crown, which ran from 2016 to 2023.
Besides The Crown, Casey worked on other significant projects at Left Bank Pictures, including: Father and Son, an ITV drama starring Dougray Scott (Ever After: A Cinderella Story, Mission: Impossible II), a series for the BBC called Zen and Strike Back, a drama co-produced by Sky and HBO.
According to Deadline, Casey expressed how lucky he feels to have been part of an exceptional producing team for The Crown. He also appreciates the opportunity to work closely with a great group of actors and behind-the-scenes workers. Casey mentions that his decision to leave Left Bank Pictures is influenced by the fact that The Crown is ending. He believes this moment presents a good opportunity for him to step back and think about the next steps for his future career.
