According to Deadline, Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under, Safe) made an appearance at Comic-Con to speak about the two upcoming Dexter TV series. A prequel, Dexter: Original Sin, is set to premiere in December, and Dexter: Resurrection in Summer 2025.
After receiving a standing ovation, Hall discussed how it felt returning to Comic-Con. “It’s pretty heady,” said Hall via Deadline, after receiving a standing ovation. He is also an executive producer on both series. “I’m having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic-Con. We were in this hall. That was … 75 years ago? It’s amazing to still be alive. I cannot wait to watch this show. To a certain degree, I have a sense of what is coming. I’ve spent so much time with this character and to go back to have those sort of imaginative blanks filled in this technicolor show … It’s amazing.”
The series’ showrunner Clyde Phillips (Get Real, Suddenly Susan), said about the prequel series: “Expect what you have seen before but better. To see these characters as their younger selves is just amazing and the storytelling, I promise you, will be surprising and astonishing and satisfying.”
The show’s executive producer, Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones, The Following) expressed his excitement for filming the series, “It’s a wide-open path,” he said. “Being able to tell a story about a kid who thinks he’s worthless and a dad who says he’s not is a beautiful thing.”
The first Dexter spin-off series, Dexter: New Blood, is a 10-episode limited series that premiered in 2021 and became Showtime’s most watched and streamed original.
Original Sin stars Patrick Gibson (The OA, The Darkest Minds) as the young Dexter Morgan and Christain Slater (Mr. Robot, True Romance) as his father Harry, Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, Bad Boys) as Mad Dog, Brittany Allen (The Boys, Falling Water) as Dexter’s biological mother, Randy Gonzalez (Graceland, Bloodline) as Santos Jimenez, Aaron Jennings (NCIS, Pure Genius) as Clark Sanders, Raquel Justice (One Day At A Time, Recover Road) as Sofia, Jasper Lewis (V/H/S, The Impersonators) as Dexter’s adoptive mom and wife of Harry, Carlo Mendez (Love Kills, Mayday) as Hector Estrada, Isaac Gonzalez Rossi (The Mother, That’s Amor) plays Gio and Roberto Sanchez (Palm Royale, 2 Fast 2 Furious) plays Tony Ferrer.
It also stars James Martinez (Run All Night, One Day at a Time), Christina Milian (Resort to Love, Falling Inn Love), Reno Wilson (Good Girls, Mike and Holly), Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist, The Terror) and Patrick Dempsey (Enchanted, Thanksgiving).
At Comic-Con, audiences also got a first look at the series’ opening credits, which can be seen below.
