

MGM+ released updates on the new series American Classic, in an article with Deadline.The series, set as a comedy, features a female co-lead joining the previously announced male lead. Joining the cast are Laura Linney (The Big C, Ozark), starring as Kristen Forrest Bean, and Jon Tenney (I See You, The Closer), starring as Jon Bean. Kevin Kline (Wild Wild West, A Fish Called Wanda) will star as the lead, Richard Bean.
Deadline shared the new comedy series is set to follow a snarky, ex-broadway star, Kline’s Richard Bean, who publicly destroys his career with a meltdown. After his public outrage, Bean seeks refuge in his hometown discovering the remnants of his hometown theater, the place where he came across his talents.As Bean hits rock bottom, he realizes the hometown theater his father used to artistically direct has been left in bad condition. To save himself and his career, Bean decides to revamp the theater by putting on a production that he will direct and star in.
The official logline for the series reads; “Richard Bean suffers a spectacular public meltdown and returns to his tiny hometown and the family-run theater where he first became aware of his own brilliance.”
Fans are excited to see Linney star in the comedy series as the actress has quite the range. Linney has starred in quite a few popular works on the small and big screen such as Bojack Horseman, Nocturnal Animals, and Ozark. Along with Linney, Tenny is known for his works as well. The actor starred in Cruel Intentions, Lincoln Lawyer, and True Detective.
The series is currently still in the works and has yet to give fans a release date. Despite the lack of release date fans are excited to see a a new comedy series be introduced. To catch these stars, tune into MGM+ for updates.
