MGM+ And Lionsgate Renew ‘Robin Hood’ For Season Two

According to Deadline, Lionsgate Television and MGM+ have renewed the show Robin Hood for season two. Starring Jack Patten (NCIS: Sydney, War Machine), Lauren McQueen (Outlander: Blood of my Blood, Strictly Confidential) and Sean Bean (This City is Ours, Deep Cover), Robin Hood had one of MGM+’s all-time best first seasons.

Deadline mentions that the second season of Robin Hood will expand beyond the towns of Sherwood and Nottingham and into England, France and Rome. New adventures begin with the beloved characters that the viewers have and will continue to engage with. In season one, Patten and McQueen played the two leads, Robin Hood and Marian, respectively, while Bean was the Sheriff of Nottingham. Lydia Peckham (The Burning of Broken Beak, The Wrecking Crew), Steven Waddington (The Hack, Vincent and Agostina) and Connie Nielsen (Gladiator II, Follow Me) were also co-stars during the incredible first season. Casting for season two will be announced soon.

The Global head of MGM+, Michael Wright, stated via Deadline, “Robin Hood quickly became one of our top-performing original series of all time, and the response from our audiences both in the U.S. and abroad had been exceptional.” Wright continued, “We’re thrilled to continue this epic adventure for a second season. John Glenn, Jonathan English, and the entire creative team have reimagined this legacy tale with remarkable depth and authenticity, and we can’t wait to see where they take us next.”

Deadline states that Robin Hood will premiere on MGM+ in the U.S. and will also be available in other countries, such as the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Belgium and the Netherlands. John Glenn (SEAL Team, Miranda’s Rights) is the showrunner, and Jonathan English (Dias: The Javelin Squad, The Machine) will direct; both will be co-executive producers along with Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman (The Mupperts, Soul Power: The Legend of the American Basketball Association); Carly Kleinbart (The Housemaid, Sherry) and Nicole Bryant (One Bedroom, One Bath, Feet of Fire) will oversee the series.
