Metallica’s song was used by Munson in the season four finale as a tactic to help fight the show’s main villain, Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street). The song was first released in 1986 off of the band’s album of the same name.
Yesterday, a video of Quinn practicing his cover of “Master Of Puppets” was posted by the Stranger Things’ writers room Twitter account, which has also gone viral with 64.5K retweets and 421.2K likes as of this writing.

This is also not the first time this season in which the hit Netflix drama has revitalized a classic song from the 1980s. In part one of season four, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” was used when the character Max, played by Sadie Sink (The Glass Castle), is being saved from Vecna and the upside down. Since the song was used, it has shot all the way top the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, currently placed at #6, 37 years after it was released in 1985 off her album Hounds Of Love. The song is used multiple times throughout the new season.
Both parts of season four of Stranger Things are out now on Netflix.
