Melissa Benoist Returns as ‘Supergirl’ in New Trailer for Season 4 on The CW

A new trailer was released for Supergirl’s upcoming season four premiere – showing us what our heroine, Kara Zor-el, will soon face. While the trailer shows new cast members, it does not give us any details as to what happens after the battle with villain Reign in season three’s finale.

With one character, in particular, Nicole Maines will be playing a role that will seemingly push the envelope in the right direction. She will play Dreamer who is a transgender hero which is something that can be praised by viewers. Another character shown in the trailer is Mercy Graves (Rhona Mitra). The show once again places women in roles that are meant to show how strong they are. Graves is the former bodyguard of Lex Luthor. With so many new faces, there are endless possibilities to what we can expect.

We will also get to see Manchester Black come to life on our screens. With his telepathic powers, there can be some mind games expected. He will certainly play a pivotal role against Kara.

Ever since season three ended, a lot has taken place within the political climate in our world. Supergirl will be targeting these conversations, as well as using it for some inspirational storylines. Sometimes the lines can become blurred between TV shows and real life. Comparisons can be drawn. It is dynamic to even have a show centered around a strong woman. It will be interesting to see how the writers thread these events to real life. A lot of shows nowadays are influenced by political occurrences, so it is not too surprising to see this series take the same route. We will also see a connection with Superman’s story Red Son.

Supergirl is set to return on October 14, on The CW.
